SciShop was originally developed by three enthusiastic, energetic teachers, and its initial development was supported by a Subject Association DfEE Website Grant. The present website has been constructed and developed by Dr.Martyn Overy, and paid for using his own resources. Many of the resources provided, software and images, and the costs of hosting continue to be paid for using his own money. Martyn Overy now concentrates on the development of educational websites, where the focus is on providing resources developed by students and teachers. All resources can be used freely for non-profit, educational applications. Open Source software is used extensively. Examples of these developments can be found at Mywebschool.org
